From Resistencia there are services to Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña and other towns in the province, Córdoba, Corrientes, Formosa, Mendoza, Posadas, Puerto Iguazú, Rosario, Salta, San Miguel de Tucumán, Santiago del Estero and Asunción (Paraguay)

Things to do

ADVENTUR TOURISM. Overland to Fuerte Esperanza and Nueva Pompeya, two villages set in the heart of "El Impenetrable"; photographic safaris, excursions on foot or by canoe to look at the fauna.

RIVER FISHING. The Isla del Cerrito, 53 Km from Resistencia, is an ideal spot to catch dorado. In Villa Río Bermejito you can go fishing or do water sports.

What to visit

RESISTENCIA, THE CULTURAL CAPITAL. There are over 100 statues to be found throughout the city. The Fogón de los Arrieros (The Muleteers' Stove) is a mixture of museum, cultural institution and bohemian corner, where local and passing artists exhibit their works.

THE PARQUE NACIONAL CHACO. It is rich in plant and animal life. The vegetation is comprised of red quebrachos, carob trees, guayacanes and dense caranday palm groves. Toucans, herons, storks, bandurrias, parrots, carpenter birds, monkeys, foxes, snakes, otters, carpinchos and yacaré alligators are all in abundance.

THE METEORITES OF CAMPO DEL CIELO. Very near to the border with Santiago del Estero lies an area covered with meteorite fragments dating back 6,000 years. The largest meteorite to have fallen here, weighing 33,4 tons, has been baptized with the name of El Chaco.

Other places of interest: the Reserva Natural Estricta Colonia Benítez, is only 15 Km from the capital and has examples of the flora and fauna of the eastern region of Chaco. The reserve, Parque Provincial Pampa del Indio, also has abundant autochthonous fauna. It is very common to see tacurúes, termites nests, which can reach a height of 1.5 m.


Shopping

ARTS AND CRAFTS: ceramics, leather wallets and bags, curtains, plaited straw articles, masks, material woven from natural fibres and wood carvings, all from the Barrio Toba in Resistencia.

Two places in Chaco

Of interest in the province is the regions of El Impenetrable, which has dense vegetation and where there are numerous species of animals. There's also Campo del Cielo, near to Gancedo, where six thousand years ago fragments of meteorites fell; the largest of them called El Chaco, weighs 33.4 tons
